After doing a brief review of dual-core Android smart phones, we thought of sharing the list of inexpensive budget Android smartphones. The following phones were selected mainly for people who are new in this smartphone world or for those who can't afford expensive phones (only the phones with low prices and rich feature set were selected). Huawei IDEOS – Rs. 6,999Huawei IDEOS was first introduced by Zong for Rs.15,999, which was later revised and price was lowered to Rs.10,999 but now its available for just Rs. 6,999 only. Huawei IDEOS is also available with Ufone. Huawei IDEOS, probably the cheapest Android phone, has got a 528Mhz ARM 11 processor along with 256Mb RAM and 200Mb of expandable memory. The phone runs on the aged Android 2.2 Froyo. The screen is a bit small at 2.8 inches and has a resolution of 240×320. This phone hasn't got killer features, but at this price it does give a bang-for-the-buck. HTC Explorer – Rs. 12,490The HTC Explorer has got a 3.2 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 320×480. The OS of the phone is HTC Sense 3.5 running on Android 2.3. The phone has got a RAM of 512 Mb on a 600Mhz Cortex A5 processor with 90Mb expandable memory. A 3mp camera can be found on the back too. The price of HTC Explorer is Rs.12,490 at homeshopping.pk. Huawei U8650 – Rs. 14,900Huawei U8650 is another phone currently being sold by Zong. Huawei U8650 has 3.5 inch touchsreen with a resolution of 320×480. The phone has a RAM of 256Mb with 160Mb expandable memory. The phone has a 3mp camera and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The phone is currently being offered by Zong for Rs. 14,900. Samsung Galaxy Y Duos – 15,090Samsung Galaxy Y Dous is basically the dual-sim version of the Galaxy Y. It has got a 3.14 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 320×240. The OS running is touchwiz covered on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Galaxy Y Duos has got a 832Mhz ARMv6 processor along with a 290Mb of RAM with a expandable memory of 160Mb. A 3.15 mp camera is on the back. The price of Galaxy Y Duos is Rs. 15,090 at homeshopping.pk. HTC ChaCha – Rs. 15,900This phone is for people who are crazy about facebook. HTC ChaCha has a 800Mhz ARMv6 processor with 512Mb RAM. The phone runs on HTC Sense covered on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. The screen is 2.6 inches big with a resolution of 480×320. The back boasts a 5mp camera. But the standout feature is the facebook button which can share any photo or video and can open your facebook wall or facebook places instantly. The phone costs Rs. 15,900 on homeshopping.pk. Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro (2nd Gen) – Rs. 16,990The short dimensions are the noticeable feature of this phone. Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro has a 3 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 320×480. The phone runs on a 1Ghz processor and 512 Mb RAM with an expandable internal memory of 400Mb. The back boasts a 5mp camera with 720p HD video recording. The phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. A slide out qwerty keyboard is there too. The phone is available at homeshopping.pk for Rs. 16,990. Sony Ericsson live with Walkman – Rs. 17,290Arguably one of the best in this list, Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman comes with respectable specs. It has got a 1Ghz ARMv7 processor with 512Mb of RAM which makes the OS of the phone (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) run smoothly. Live with Walkman has a 320Mb expandable storage. Pakistan to Have 10 Million Facebook Users by 2013 [Infographic] Posted: 12 Jun 2012 10:42 PM PDT Pakistan will have 10 million Facebook users by 2013, said an inforgraphic published by B Solutions, a social media strategy company. B solutions projected that estimated number of Facebook users in Pakistan will cross 10 million mark by 2013, which are currently reported to be around 6.4 million users. Infographic said that 18-24 years of age group constitutes a total of 51 percent users on Facebook from Pakistan. Apple Introduces New iOS 6 [Highlights] Posted: 12 Jun 2012 10:40 PM PDT At the WWDC 2012 event, the second most important announcement Apple did was that of iOS 6 which brings 200 new features. The devices supported are iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, IPod touch 4th generation, iPad 2 and the new iPad and iPhone 4S and new iPad will get the most features. A beta version has been released. Here are the main highlights of iOS 6: Siri You can ask Siri about sports, movies and restaurants. Siri can now launch apps and you can also tweet using Siri. Apple also announced that it is working with several car manufactures to put a Siri button on the steering wheel which will allow the user to use Siri without holding the phone. It can also update your Facebook account. But the most important announcement was the featuring of Siri in the new iPad in iOS 6. Facebook Integration iOS 6 now integrates your device heavily with Facebook now. with iOS 6 you will be able to share photos, web links and updates from Game Center with ease. iOS 6 also allows you to post to Facebook (and twitter too) right from Notification Center. Apple has added a like button to Appstore and ITunes so now you can know what stuff the other people like. The Facebook contacts now appear in Calendar and Contacts as well. Phone app Phone app allows you to reply with a quick message to the person calling you when you can't receive the phone. Another option will remind you when you'll leave a place to call the person. A new feature demonstrated is the 'Do not disturb' option which can silent the phone. It can be customized to allow recurring calls in case of emergency. Facetime Facetime video calls can now be done on cellular networks. Facetime can now use your Apple ID and your phone number to allow you to receive the incoming call on your iPad or Mac. The same can be done with iMessage as well. Safari Safari now uses 'iCloud Tabs' which means you can now browse just where you left from any of your iOS devices. Safari in iOS 6 now the whole web pages so that you can read them later whenever you want even when you aren't connected to the internet. Photos can now be uploaded right from Safari on the web. Shared Photo Streams This feature allows you to share photos very easily. You just select and share your photos using photo streams and you friends on iOS devices can and view them. People can also comment on these photos. These photos can be seen on the television using Apple TV, on Macs using iPhoto and Aperture and on Windows PC through the web. Apple has added a new option 'VIP'. This will allow emails from important people to appear into your locked home screen. These emails get separated in your mailbox. Photos and videos can now be added on your composed email windows and Office docs can now be opened on your iOS device. Passbook Passbook is a brand new app which takes all your movie tickets, store cards and boarding passes and puts them all in the Passbook app. The app also updates your cards and passes. Guided Access Guided Access is another new feature. It allows the user to lock the app onto the screen so that the app cannot be closed and certain areas of the screen can't be touched. It also disables the home button. Maps The Maps are now better-looking and integrated with Siri. Turn by turn navigation is now supported. The maps update themselves to tell you about traffic jams, incidents etc. But the most exciting is the Flyover. It allows you to see the major metropolitan areas in 3D models which look stunning.
